Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Projects
At Macktiles, we believe in building more than just spaces — we’re committed to making a positive impact on the communities we serve. Through our Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, we support meaningful projects that reflect our values and contribute to a better tomorrow.
2015 – Donation of Dialysis Machine to Panadura Base Hospital
In collaboration with Multilac, Macktiles donated a dialysis machine to Panadura Base Hospital to support patients with kidney-related illnesses. Prior to this donation, many patients in the Kalutara District were compelled to travel to Colombo for treatment. The initiative marked the first phase of a broader plan to upgrade the hospital’s facilities.
2016 – Community Eye Camp and Nanapahana Scholarship Programme
Macktiles organized an eye care camp at its Bandaragama facility, providing eye screenings to 256 individuals, including local residents and staff. A total of 122 individuals received free spectacles, and the company committed to funding cataract surgeries for 50 patients. In addition, the company re-launched the Nanapahana Scholarship Programme, awarding scholarships to 33 university students and 6 A/L students to support their academic pursuits.
2021 – Vinyl Flooring Donation to Colombo South Teaching Hospital
As part of its response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Macktiles donated high-quality, non-toxic vinyl flooring to the Colombo South Teaching Hospital. The flooring was chosen for its hygienic properties, including sealed surfaces that prevent the accumulation of germs and viruses, thereby contributing to improved hospital sanitation.
2022 – Organic Agriculture and Environmental Education Initiative
Macksons Holdings, the parent company of Macktiles Lanka, partnered with the University of Colombo to offer a certificate course on organic agriculture. Seventeen students completed a 14-day residential program designed to promote toxin-free farming practices. The company also launched a pilot project on a three-acre plot in Kahathuduwa to research and develop crop varieties and begin small-scale organic fertilizer production.
2025 – Donation of 75 School Bags to Madulsima Tamil Maha Vidyalaya
On May 26, 2025, Macktiles donated 75 school bags to underprivileged students at BD/Madulsima Tamil Maha Vidyalaya near Badulla. The event took place at 11:30 AM and was attended by the General Manager of Macktiles, Mr. Niroshan Pannanwala, who was felicitated by the school principal. This initiative reflects the company’s commitment to enriching the education of young minds through meaningful community support.
Suwasariya Medical Center
The Suwasariya Medical Center is a fully operational, free medical facility in Bandaragama, dedicated to serving low-income families. Open from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM daily, the center provides free medical consultations and medications. With an average of 85 patients served each day, this initiative represents Macktiles Lanka’s unwavering commitment to community health and accessible primary care for all Sri Lankans.
Nanasaviya Education Center
The Nanasaviya Education Center offers free tuition classes for students from Grade 2 to Grade 11 (O/Ls), taught by qualified, government-approved educators. Conducted on weekends, these classes ensure that children from low-income households receive the academic support they deserve. In addition to child education, Nanasaviya also runs Skill Development Programs for adults, equipping them with vocational training in areas such as batik, sewing, English, cakery, and baking. These programs aim to uplift local families by providing practical, income-generating skills.
Industrial Training Programmes
To enhance employability in rural communities, Macktiles Lanka has launched Industrial Training Programmes that provide hands-on instruction in trades like forklift operation, painting, tiling, and caregiving. These programs are designed to help individuals—especially youth—gain real-world skills that open up local and international job opportunities.
Blood Donation Drives
Macktiles Lanka periodically organizes Blood Donation Campaigns in collaboration with local hospitals and blood banks. These events bring together employees, community members, and volunteers in a shared effort to save lives and support national healthcare needs.
Community Medical Camps
Our Free Community Medical Camps provide vital health screenings and advice for residents of Bandaragama and nearby villages. Services include eyesight checks, blood pressure monitoring, blood sugar reports, BMI assessments, and dental examinations—all administered by licensed healthcare professionals. As a follow-up to the medical camp, individuals diagnosed with vision issues were provided free spectacles through an Eye Camp held on 09/06/2025, ensuring comprehensive and compassionate care.
Macktiles Lanka Green Initiative
Our Green Initiative reflects a dual mission: environmental responsibility and community empowerment. Each of our recycling programs is designed to minimize waste and simultaneously generate income for families in need.
1. Tile Recycling – Mosaic Tile Production:
Damaged or broken tiles are repurposed into beautiful Mosaic Tiles, handcrafted by trained women from low-income households. Over 50 families are now earning a stable income from this project, with each piece they create contributing to both sustainability and livelihood development.
2. Paper Recycling – Bags, Cards & Tile Packaging
We transform waste paper and cardboard into eco-friendly paper bags, greeting cards, and tile packaging materials. This initiative employs mostly mothers from the local community, giving them flexible work schedules and piece-rate pay to support their families.
3. Pallet Recycling – Crate Manufacturing
Used wooden pallets are cut and repurposed into durable crates for transporting C-grade tiles. This program creates jobs for men in the village, who are trained and empowered to manage their work hours while earning a fair wage per unit produced.
4. Non-Degradable Material Recycling
To minimize environmental pollution, Macktiles actively recycles plastic, polythene, and polysack materials, ensuring they are reused within our production and logistics operations instead of being released into the environment. Our Green Initiative is a true win-win: it reduces our ecological footprint while creating meaningful economic opportunities for underprivileged families.
